Diy Beehive with Bees!
Ever since we found the sweetest little hibernating bee in our garden Nixie has been wanting to learn about bees so this week weve been doing lots of bee related activities and one of those activities has been making our own little beehive with accompanying bees!
Seashell Crowns
Today was a blissfully slow day, a day of relaxing, doing whatever we felt like doing and a day of having our first go at making seashell crowns. It's something I've been wanting to try for the past month but never got around to it until now.
Using Dandelion Root as Medicine
On the same day we made our nettle crisps we also foraged some dandelion root. This is the very first time I've ever used dandelion root but I've really been wanting to learn more about making my own natural medicines.
Frog Tealight Holder
After we had found our frogspawn and Nixie's focus turned to frogs we also made this sweet little tea light holder. I love finding things to make based on Nixie's interests because it means our creative projects end up being so varied and at times very random!
DIY Rose Petal Heart Bath Bombs
I have been wanting to make bath bombs again for a while but just never got around to it, one of the things stopping me was that I didn't have all the ingredients but I finally stocked up on some baking soda since it seems to be something we use a lot of in this house at the moment especially with all of the experiments Nixie wants to do.
DIY Healing Salve~ Yarrow & Plantain
For this post I'm sharing with you all our favourite salve we've ever made to date which is our Yarrow & Plantain healing salve. Everyone in our family swears by it and we always have some in our bag whenever we go out. We use it for cuts, scrapes, bug bites and even blisters and it speeds up healing exponentially. You can forage for them pretty much all year around and is something you could do now if you felt inspired to.
Worms, Worms, Worms! All About Worms!
The past few days it's been all about worms over here. We've been reading about them, digging for them, looking at them under microscopes, making worm homes, growing worms, doing experiments, and making bookmarks and even painting with worms!
Deer Paper Craft
A couple of weeks ago Nixie really wanted to learn about deer so we spent a couple of days researching which species of deer live in the New Forest and discovering a little bit about each one. No matter what we are learning about I always try to incorporate something creative and for this theme we did some paper craft and made a deer silhouette.
